The One Show - BBC - June 2022
As an OB Runner I was accountable for multiple responsibilities. This included being on location, putting up filming signs at a public event to highlight filming areas that were in use. Addressing the public and informing them of what is going on. Going into briefs and evaluating at debriefs what could of worked better, proposal topical ideas along with how The One Show has worked on similar treatments. As we were covering The Queen's jubilee, I was printing and sticking cue cards, setting up filming spaces and directing the public around our filming location. I also did food and drink runs along with driving to and from location.
The live programme meant we had to follow content and to perform this to the best of my ability ensure I knew the running order. When recording I was cable bashing, ensuring the camera cables did not tangle or mix with the camera operator or the public.
Riddiculous - Whisper/ East Media - ITV - May 22
Whilst working as a runner on Riddiculous I was heavily involved with the questions team. This included briefing contestants, question pronunciation, the order of categories and printing off running orders and print outs for the RX. I was also based doing production office duties, running to shops with petty cash, collecting cue cards and food for the crew.
Ensuring there is confidentiality around the building and paperwork got delivered promptly. I would be involved in run throughs with executives to ensure they were happy with order, difficulty and checking if the question had been used in previous episodes or shows.



Romeo & Duet - GOAT Films - ITV - January / February 2022
On Romeo & Duet I was a casting runner responsible for a variety of duties. This included looking after the cast, taking and escorting them around Dock 10 to make up, wardrobe, bathrooms, backstage and to the studio for their audition. In addition to this I was dealing with petty cash and collecting stock from supermarkets for the production, keeping in mind any allergies contestants were allergic to. Creating a strong rapport was important to making contestants feel settled throughout their audition, backstage before and after they performed.


Panorama - BBC - January 2022
When on location working on Panorama, I dealt with a multitude of different tasks. This included working with children and adhering to their filming regulations. Making sure they were catered for in addition to helping get the best angle out of the story. In addition to this I was driving a van around Barnsley, helping the reporter and PD set up shots for master interviews.
Dealing with outdoor weather and the public, there were some challenges in ensuring that everything ran smoothly. With drone footage allowing a wider scope of feild, I was positioned to lock off certain areas and nobody got in the way of the landing.
I'm A Celebrity - Lifted Entertainment - November 2021
While at I’m A Celebrity as an off site Runner/chaperone I dealt with a variety of different tasks. This included delivering supplies to high profile celebrities while they were in quarantine. Ensuring PPE was worn and delivered to security guards who were at the property.
It was my responsibility to deliver callsheets and schedules to the celebrities so they were aware of what their movements would be leading up to the filming start date. In addition to this I transported shopping but also personal items such as phones, laptops and wallets that belonged to the high profile talent so that it could be put into storage while they are in camp. Furthermore the house they were isolating in I had to set up and also pack down at the end of their stay. This included credentials such as passwords for a variety of accounts that they would be using during their stay.
I was also on site as I collected and dropped off confidential paperwork that would be vital to their movements while they prepare to go into the castle.

Teen First Dates - Twenty Twenty - October/November 2021
Collecting contributors from their date to the post interview room and then taking them from their post date interview to . Chaperoning and using soft skills to understand the background of how the contributor felt the date went compared to what they might of initially thought. This required me to communicate with AP’s and AFM’s to ensure a smooth transition was executed.

Making sure I was communicating with other runners to ensure they knew who was coming to their station next and briefing them on their appearance so a fluid transition could be made between the teams.
As a gallery runner I was making sure that the executive producers, PDs, camera operators, sound engineers AFM’s and Senior Casting Producers were happy across the duration of the shoot days. Dealing with Feeding and watering the whole gallery in addition to cleaning on regular occasions to ensure it was clean and regulated throughout the day. On occasions PD’s would go and deal with other issues. Here it was my responsibility to log the date for them using time codes and dialogues to signify actions and vital speech that may or may not influence the outcome of the date.

The Voice - ITV - October 2021
GV’s, B Roll/ VT filming - logging content. From camera angles used and description about what is in frame and actions being carried out. Transporting tripods, monitors and other camera gear out to location around MCUK -
taking acts and f&f from studio waiting room to VT area. Understanding which act would be next in line and reporting on comms to my P/D about who I will travel with next so they can be prepared.
Ushering F&F from side of stage to post meet up reunion interview with act. This required personal emotional understanding of the acts F&F depending on how the audition went.

The Circle - Studio Lambert - August 2021
Working on The Circle presented me with a variety of tasks throughout my time on the seven week production. With everything from delivering food and drink to players and crew, in addition to de-branding these items for product placement purposes. From swapping and charging microphone batteries, in addition to cleaning the building and surroundings, I had to be on hand for players blockings, placing game boxes outside of players apartments and speaking with the gallery producers when required.



Real Housewives Of Cheshire - Monkey Kingdom - September 2021
Whilst working on Real Housewives Of Cheshire I was tech running. This involved looking after talent, whilst PD's were setting up next scene, to rigging locations and filing release forms for contributors and buildings being used. This therefore required having all paperwork on hand throughout the day, along with ensuring we wrapped on time to get to our next location. With one eye on the clock, and the other on the monitors and battery levels for cameras and microphones, I was constantly ensuring no battery went down, continuity was kept and no boom went into shot.
I was in-charge of batteries and locking off outdoor locations. Working in a small crew meant I got to understand who needed and required certain duties at different points of the day. Having knowledge of the equipment and filming space meant jobs could be carried out smoothly and quick to ensure we met the schedule.
Pretty Green - Lightening Films - September 2021
Whilst a Runner working on this commercial for Pretty Green, I carried out a variety of tasks. This included driving the clients and the producer to a variety of locations over Manchester, this meant that my timekeeping ability and call times for locations, had to be accurate so that nothing overran, or if it did, we made up time at another location. I was also accountable for locking off locations, assisting the AC carrying peli cases, tripods and props for the advert.
Getting food and drink for the crew and cast, in addition to working with drones, accessing the surroundings was equally as important. From MediaCityUK to the O2 Ritz, being based all around the city meant cast and crew were relying on energy and snacks to get them through. Occasionally, members of the public would question what was happening or why they couldn't park in a certain spot, it was my job to escort them elsewhere and make them aware of the ongoing filming.
Peck Ed's - Jax Media - August 2021
Whilst on the pilot 'Peck Ed's' being a runner gave me exposure to many different areas and skills. This included liaising with the 3rd AD, directing SA's, being on hand with water and light reflectors to equalise natural lighting. Long shoot days meant assisting the props team when it came to changing and dressing locations in addition to being responsible for distributing meals for cast and crew.


BBC Sport - June 2021
Throughout my time working for BBC Sport I gained a lot of different skills as a Journalism Researcher. These include creating webpages on Castaway by making titles and PIDs that would then get attached and placed into a post on VIVO, into where a journalist had written a post regarding the match event.
In addition to this I had used the software CPS to create and edit live texts. This includes getting images (Hero, Index and Promo) of athletes, and finding facts that could be inserted into the page to summarise the event. A further responsibility includes operating the Audio Factory desk, creating bookings along with speaking to commentators ensuring they can broadcast from stadium to their designated station.
A main responsibility was to create MAPS and clips for matches for Olympic events, in addition to the ICC in cricket and Wimbledon for the tennis. This involved making a specific page for a game, keeping up to date with the changing of events and stand out moments. This resulted in the viewer getting a detailed insight of the games action, via the app or website.
For on demand services such as BBC iPlayer, I was accountable for starting and ending encoders for Video On Demand. This was used while Wimbledon was in action, as all 18 courts were either on broadcast channels or the red button. Therefore starting the days play and ending it at the right moment was down to my judgement that I then checked with the producer, ensuring they were happy with my decision.



Ambulance - Dragonfly - June 2021
Whilst at 'Ambulance' I managed to get exposure to a variety of tasks as a runner across multiple days in June. These includes using talkback to communicate with other members of the crew, to direct the North West Ambulance Service around the cities of Blackburn, Preston and Burnley. In addition to this, I dealt with members of the public while drone footage was being captured. Looking after members of the NWAS meant I was dealing with petty cash and handling receipts from various transactions. Other things I dealt with included being the camera operator's assistant by; handling equipment such as manfrotto tripods and being responsible for the camera projector diffuser whilst on location, in alignment to locking off locations so filming could occur.



The Drop - June 2021
Working on The Drop gave me the opportunity to convey both soft and technical skills. These included being efficient on comms to relay information from the AP through to contestants and to negotiate movements and timings. As this was a fast- paced production with practical challenges being aware of my surroundings with props and wires it was my responsibility to cable bash ensuring safe travel for everyone. In addition to this, I used petty cash to collect lunches and drinks while out on location filming.

Galleon Studios - June 2021
On my return to Galleon Studios, working on a interview for 'Below Deck', I managed to advance my skills and knowledge as a runner. Doing admin for the shoot, organising paperwork, scanning documents, and sending them to various recipients, I was responsible for ensuring the correct information got relayed to the necessary people. In addition to this, I was accountable for driving, organising food deliveries and handling petty cash in the process. Whilst in and around the studio I was moving props in and out of the set, in addition to ensuring sound and lighting was correct for the talent involved.

Wolfe - Abbott Vision - May/April 2021
Working on location on a Sky One Drama gave me exposure to tasks and duties that were important in allowing for the production to run smoothly. This included working on location with both the Locations and AD team, using comms etiquette to communicate efficiently and effectively. Driving around Manchester with equipment, putting up and taking down location signs, I was always on hand thinking one step ahead. Locking off locations ensuring that surrounding areas were silent once filming, to de-rigging locations, carrying sand bags, water dispensers and director's chairs back to my car., Furthermore, using my initiative in the quiter moments to see what tasks could be carried out in-between takes, such as topping up the tea table.



Kitchens and Bathrooms Commercial - SJW Films -April 2021
Working as a runner on my first TV commercial opened my skillset to involve tasks that I hadn't previously needed to do. This involved working with a green screen, aligning markers, furniture, helping move the set around so that it matched with the storyboard. Working to cue's, using Xrite calibrate the colour for each shot along with standing in for the talent, the small crew meant I was doing a variety of jobs from set up the PPE to driving to pick up props and lunches for the crew.


BBC Sports Personality 2020 - BBC - December 2020
Working as a Runner on this production meant I was responsible for a variety of factors that effected the production. On the production I was responsible for making beverages for talent and taking it to the studio in addition to various stand in work for the rehearsal of the production.


The Voice - ITV - October 2020
Being a 'Logger' on The Voice meant I constantly had to keep an ear open to what was being said, with one camera being operated by a small team of 4/5, due to the coronavirus. This meant I was operating and understanding the different roles that the P/D, camera operator and sound operator had to do. In addition to this, I was chatting to contestants and family's for cutaway shots, standing in for host Emma Willis and working my way around Dock 10 to get to the relevant areas, such as the holfding room, green room and studio. Using the software TimeCode+, I was writing the audio and action of what happened side of stage, that would then get passed onto the editors and executives who would then construct the programme together.

Nine Lives Media - March 2020

Having the experience of working at Nine Lives Media meant I was involved in everything from team meetings and pitching ideas to researching facts, figures and potential locations for shoot days. As all filming is done on location, transport is vital and from picking up kit from the BBC to put into the vehicle, meant checklists and production schedules had to be devised.


Dock 10 - February 2020

Being a 'Studio Runner' in Dock 10 has allowed me to become exposed to many opportunities, working on multiple productions and become integrated into the involvement of maintenance within the building. From Countdown, University Challenge and Blue Peter, understanding how the production operates has allowed me to network better, improve my knowledge of the industry and understand what is required on the set of particular show. Making beverages for the production galleries and other clients has meant my time keeping and knowledge of the building itself has improved massively.



The Mummy Diaries - Potato - December 2019
​
My time on 'The Mummy Diaries' led me to gain knowledge of the production schedule, turn around periods and shooting locations that are utilised within the programme. Working on softwares such as Media Control, allowed me to log the content from the various camera crews that went on location. I additionally gained a strong rapport with the others in the production offices as they sent database tasks to carry out and ensure details were correct to date.


X Factor: Celebrity - Syco/ Thames - November 2019

Whilst on X-Factor I was dealing with high profile talent and celebrities, within a live environment. I had a variety of roles to carry out as a runner including going to purchase items from retail stores, handling and being responsible for the flow of cash, in addition to delivering lunches to crew.
Operating the social media for the official X-Factor accounts was another task I had, taking behind the scenes pictures and videos that would go onto Instagram and TikTok, going behind the scenes to create content for digital and online. Assisting with floor managing in terms of ensuring extras were located in specific areas, was another role I encountered, so knowing the layout of the building and the running order was crucial in the live show.


Student Radio Awards - November 2019

Being a camera operator at the Student Radio Awards meant I had to track the winners onto stage. Through knowing where students were positioned due to the comms that the team were using and the table numbers, I worked my way around the O2 Indigo with a a handheld camera. Capturing wide angles and close ups of bands, in addition to winners on the night, working on the live format helped build both my technical and soft skills. I got the privledge to not only work in the environment, but network with industry professionals from stations including BBC Radio 2, Newsbeat and Capital, as the event was sponsered by BBC Radio 1 and Global.


Britain's Got Talent - SYCO/Thames - October/ November 2019
Being part of the team at Britain's Got Talent Producers Tour, allowed me to become exposed to a variety of different aspects of production process, This included communication as I was dealing with a large number of contestants and utilising the comms to speak and listen to instructions throughout the day. This included not only being responsible for a large number of people, but also being available in all areas, working alongside the producer inside the room, in addition to feeding constestants through outside the room, being vigilant about how much space we could cater for others. As a flexi-runner I worked registration and 'Stage 2 Running' which allowed me to gain an understanding for the contestants, building an rapport, in addition to helping out in the flood, dressing up and filling the holding room, as well as working the marathon in both Manchester and London.


Songs Of Praise - Avanti Media - September 2019

Whilst at Songs Of Praise I got involved with a variety of production tasks. These include administrative work such as researching locations, completing release forms and time coding. In addition to this I have worked with the production crew on the pre-production doing location recce, meeting contributors and developing stories. This is in addition to the production working with talent and crew, along with identifying how the programme is edited on AVID and the quick turn around this brings.
The experience meant I had to be computer literate, using soft skills and technical skills to ensure I could use my initiative in any situation whether this be out on location or in the office.

Dock 10 - August 2019
​
Whilst working as a day runner at Dock 10 I was heavily involved with dealing with everything Post Production. Dealing with the different studios, HQ1-8, editing suites, ADR studios and operating my way around the building I understood what type of productions are filmed in each particular studio and contingencies and potential issues crews may face on a day to day basis.
Assisting the post production runners I was in the Dubbing Suite’s, advancing on my knowledge of AVID, understanding the editing schedule, to getting to grips with the building layout and different jobs that may be required within specific areas. This includes moving furniture, greeting clients and dealing with refreshments, ensuring communal spaces were tidy, all while liaising with a variety of crew and talent, having excellent communication skills and using my initiative, operating within the building among multiple productions going on at any one time.


Andy And The Band - Three Arrows Media - July 2019

Throughout my time at Andy And The Band I was involved in a variety of different responsibilities. As a runner I was accountable for locking off sections of the location, ensuring refreshments were offered between takes to keep everyone hydrated and dealing with talent and young contributors ensuring they are happy and content once offset.
From operating comms relaying information to keeping organised getting props and clothing for cast from the production office, I was very much based around the whole set. However from getting involved with focus pulling to overseeing the comments of the director and 1st AD, I got to experience how all members of a team are involved with the production and how soft skills such as communication and timekeeping are crucial when sticking to a schedule.


Dickinson's Real Deal - RDF Television - June 2019
On location for Dickinson's Real Deal, I was boom operator. I had to distribute the boom around valuable sedimental pieces, in addition to operating around the staff and the public. Asking questions that'll be utilised for bridging shots in between scenes, being quick to get into the action was crucial to picking up the soundbites required. Working with the Sony PMW 200 Cameras, I was working alongside the camera operator and through communication and decision making collaboratively, we got close into the action at the valuation desk, along with talent including the dealers and David Dickinson.



Royal Television Society - February 2019

Whilst working at the Royal Television Society I had a range of different responsibilities. This involved being accountable for equipment on location and setting up and de-rigging the set. As the production stuck to a tight running order, communication was key as I was dealing with talent, distributing call sheets and conducting sound checks, all to ensure that the production ran smoothly. With the RTS involved with multiple events covering industry talks from companies from all around Manchester, networking event and the student awards, all throughout the day I had to be knowledgeable about where I needed to be and what my responsibility was.




Final Score - November 2018

Using the programme 'Soapbox' to source, edit and filter through tweets from a variety of different hashtags including #bbcfootball, #mufc and #mcfc, I sent them through to the graphics team who would then transmit them through to the programme itself. Working in the gallery allowed me to identify outside broadcasts that were transmitted into the studio and use ISTN to my advantage as multiple feeds were incoming and through listening to commentary managed to identify opportunities for different teams.


What Would Your Kid Do? - ITV - October 2018
Whilst being a Stand In at 'What Would Your Kid Do?' I worked alongside Jason Manford, being mic'd up, improvising lines, and being heavily involved in the rehearsals, leading up to the recording. Blocking through segments and working my way around the set, I carried out set tasks in the green room, as well as the studio. Whilst in the studio allowed me to act as one of the family's, confirming answers and gaining an understanding of each individual role on the studio floor. Dealing with props, prizes and stage directions I had to ensure I was aware of my surroundings as there were multiple crew operating different segments of the production.



Hits Radio - October 2018

Being part of the Street Team at Hits Radio allows the restrictions of networking to go beyond the studios. From working at events all around Manchester, I get to work in different locations using different equipment with different people. From setting up the photo booth to interacting with our listeners face to face, my role required me to be informative, whilst energising our audience through the promotional events, that always get the city talking!



All Together Now - Endemol Shine UK - September 2018
Whilst working as Stand-In for Endemol Shine UK gaining work experience on BBC's Saturday night prime time television programme 'All Together Now' I worked alongside talent including Rob Beckett and Geri Halliwell, the leader of the 100. The studio experience here gave me the opportunity to be part of the 100 and be placed in the top 3 seats. Here I was mic'd up and sound tested, through improvising lines and working with the cast and crew, I had a unique opportunity to act freely upon my instincts, whilst gaining valuable experience and understanding of the rehearsal procedure.


talkSPORT - July 2018

Whilst on work experience at talkSport I did a variety of different roles including operating faders in the studio gallery for presenters and guests, creating podcasts on software including 'Burli' and 'Radio Monitor' to make the iconic 'clips of the week' on the Hawksbee and Jacobs Show. As well as creating fact sheets on all the matches of the final week of the World Cup 2018, including the semi-finals, 3rd place match and the final of the tournament. This all involved researching and gathering information which would then be discussed on air. In addition to this I carried out meet and greet with guests including Mesut Ozil's agent Dr Erkut Sogut and Charlie Pentol Levy, an upcoming, aspiring football agent. I also dealt with other guests on the phone including 2010 World Cup Final Referee, Howard Webb and the 2016 Best Referee of the year, Mark Clattenburg.



BBC Sport - June 2018

Experience in working within a live environment, such as the World Cup 2018 tournament developed my communication, time-keeping skills in the gallery and creative thinking skills. These were all used to ensure I could work with a myriad of colleagues effectively. Whilst at BBC Sport I worked with the Live Team to constantly update the BBC Sport homepage, using CPS to make templates, along with understanding how a live broadcast operates, especially with other input sources from different cameras. By shadowing the right people, I managed to broaden my knowledge on not only the sporting industry but how this is captured and reported in a fast paced environment within the BBC Production team. This has been made even more enjoyable as sport is a passion of mine.



Sharp Futures - May 2018

Managing to become a member of Sharp Futures meant I could begin to consolidate my understanding and knowledge within the industry and through communicating effectively as a team. Working in a group allowed me to realise what my strengths and weaknesses were. It allowed me to realise what my strengths and weaknesses were and this allowed me to identify areas that I could develop and improve upon, as well as focusing on other production duties and office responsibilities.

BBC Breakfast - April 2018

Through my time at the BBC Breakfast I was given the opportunity to go in the studio whilst Breakfast was being broadcast, to gain knowledge about how the programme is structured and put together ready for the presenters to deliver the information to the viewers. I also gained valuable knowledge about the different gallery roles, this visit allowed me to focus on the roles of the producer and vision mixer. I also had the chance to gain further understanding of the autocue system. Whilst observing the production of the programme, I had valuable exposure to different software applications. In-depth understanding the running orders, I also learnt journalistic and technical skills that I didn't realise I had!

BBC Radio Manchester - March 2018
​
Getting experience at Radio Manchester allowed me to expand my knowledge of software applications as I produced voxs and quizzes for different shows including Breakfast and Drive. From collecting guests, developing and adapting ideas for broadcast along with answering calls and listening to the final package go on air, I gained the full experience of technical production and working within a live environment whereby instant decision making and working to a deadline is vital. With all different elements collaborating to form a programme, speaking with different team members, allowed me to gain further insight into the research and thought processes that are considered.


BBC Live: Sport Relief - March 2018

Whilst at my time with the BBC, I was assisting with social media content and researching for the BBC Live team, that then could upload content onto the '#sportrelief' twitter page. This meant a huge responsibility in terms of getting the public's reactions to stories and identifying a potential correlating trend between popular content and social media reactions. This meant working amongst a variety of different people in a live environment that is consistently changing, but also understanding what will be coming up.


Renegade Inc - January 2018

At my time at Renegade Inc, I was involved in a variety of different roles of the studio, from Sound Operator, Editor to Research Assistant, I worked on softwares including Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, editing thumbnails and logos for the target audience that would consume into a podcast, video or article.


Twisted Capers Live - November 2017

Whilst at Twisted Capers: Live I worked as a runner. Here I managed call sheets and the running order for the production, as well as assist in a variety of areas including on the door, set design and helping with refreshments for the talent and audience members. Whilst working on this project, the skills that helped me most included communication and organisation as a team, which effectively made the event successful.


Quays TV News - September 2017

At Quays TV News, I am involved in a variety of different roles including Floor Manager,Autocue and Graphics. With weekly programmes and meetings to identify what went well, the feedback is instant, and this is something that has helped me expand my knowledge in the best way to communicate to different people throughout a team. Working with a different group of people every week also made me a quicker learner and helped my transferable skills grow, as showing my initiative and leadership together, worked in terms of generating ideas for packages such as VT's, or producing on location work.

SHOCK Radio - September 2017
Working at SHOCK Radio I am part of the Sports, Music and News Team. I write for broadcast and read on air. In addition to this I discuss and debate the latest sports stories of each week and conduct a running order for the show. From doing SHOCK, I've learnt that organisation is a key skills to have adapted as the success of the show is all about how much pre-production work and researching is done to create a flow that the listener enjoys.


Unity Radio - September 2017

Throughout my time at unity radio I have been doing weekly days at Unity Radio. Here I have been using their social media accounts to update listeners on events, whilst also conducting and writing web pages that summarise events about particular artists coming to Manchester. This includes Zed Bias and a collaboration of other artists that came to 'Relaunch' The Warehouse Project. I gained knowledge in software programmes including Cubase, Soundcloud and Wordpress.

U N I T Y R A D I O
MKFM - August 2017
​
Working at MKFM has entailed out of the studio work. following; out of the studio work, doing open day events at care homes, which involved conducting interviews and recording the opening of the home. Alongside this I assisted with football commentary and editing audio for the MK Dons football team that work with MKFM, who report on each home match.
